Since announcing that tickets for the Barclaycard World Freerun Championships are free, we’ve been inundated with requests to find out more info. As stated in our video edit, tickets will be available via Facebook but the ticketing mechanism has yet to be engaged. This will be done within the next 1-2 weeks and once it rolls, we expect all the 7,500 allocated spots to fly out like hot cakes. To stay up to date with news as it happens regarding tickets, make sure you are registered as ‘a fan’ on our facebook page here at: www.facebook.com/urbanfreeflow. The very second that they become available, we’ll send out a circular notification informing all registered users on our site. *Please be warned that once the tickets are gone, they are gone. This really will be a first come first served affair, so if you’re able to make it to London on the 15th of August, don’t miss out on the most ambitious Freerun event ever staged anywhere in the World.

Rumours are currently doing the rounds about the venue for the 2009 Barclaycard World Freerun Championship and rightly so, as the London location that’ll provide the backdrop is second to none. With the Barclaycard World Freerun Championships looming, it gives us great pleasure to announce that North One Television are on board as our partners to shoot and produce all the action. North One has built its reputation on innovative and high-end live sport productions such as The Isle Of Man TT Races, Italian Football, NBA, Rugby Six Nations, Formula One and the World Rally Championships as a global host broadcaster. With them on board for our event, we are in great hands to produce something that is going to be extra special. The official press release for the Worlds is penciled in for the 29th of June and when it is, it’ll come complete with a series of hard hitting news to show how seriously next level this event is going to be. All we can say at the moment is that the date is set for the 15th of August at a very high profile outdoor London venue. Watch this space for more news….

The Barclaycard World Freerun Championships have been shortlisted for the Sports Industry Award in the ‘Best Digital Sport Marketing Campaign’ category. There’s stiff opposition with Adidas, Nike, The British Horseracing Authority and The Football Association also in the running, but this recent news has simply fired everyone up to make the next event in October, be the best it can possibly be.

The discipline of Freerun now has an official world champion in the form of Gabriel ‘Jaywalker’ Nunez (USA). 2nd place went to Tim ‘Livewire’ Shieff (UK) and 3rd to Ben ‘Jenx’ Jenkin (UK) who also collected Adidas’ best technique award. In total, a collective of 23 athletes from 18 different countries went head to head to compete at the Barclaycard World Freerun Championships on Weds the 3rd of Sept 2008. The event was staged at a packed capacity venue at the Roundhouse in London and was filmed exclusively by Sky Sports. With sponsorship from Barclaycard, Sony Ericsson, Adidas and Electronic Arts, the ground-breaking event received unprecedented media coverage worldwide with 32 media and tv crews covering the event.
