Anyone who’s seen our spoof video of the World Champs will not be too far from the truth with our original intentions. Our initial plans were to start small and grow the event organically each year. However, the pace at which we’ve grown as an organisation and the interest we’ve generated worldwide, paved the way for something much more ambitious. So it was collectively decided to go large and put all our energy into making it happen and be something ‘next level’. This saw World Freerun Enterprises being formed as a new body formed by Urban Freeflow and AOB (UF’s business management team). Via our sponsorship agent, Simon Broyd, an introduction to Barclaycard was made and we instantly hit it off. This led to a series of in-depth meetings and as they say, the rest is history….
One of the first things on the checklist was to find a suitable venue. We’d previously conducted site visits to a variety of premier London locations but the Roundhouse was by far, the one that fitted best. It had a rich history, was easy to get to, could hold a large audience and because of the shape of the venue, allowed for a feeling of intimacy where spectators would be right in the mix of all the action.
